Singapore's sole surviving example of a traditional Chinese mansion, elegant Tan Yeok Nee House was built in 1885 as the townhouse of a prosperous merchant. Today it's part of the Asian campus of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. While it's not open to the public, you can still admire its fine roof decoration from outside, not to mention peek at its tranquil courtyard from the entrance.
