Designed by Mohammed Ka’amur Yaakub, the building’s giant roof is based on a traditional Malay floral decoration of betel leaves, while its footprint resembles a wau bulan (moon kite). Every Saturday from 6pm to 11pm there’s the Laman Santai – free live music and dance performances staged in front of the theatre – along with cheap food stalls.
