To get a really good glimpse of fiery Mt Mayon (and the city), head up Ligñon Hill (or drive, or take a trike; expect to pay around P300 for a round trip). It’s a steep, but paved, 20-minute walk up the hill; we’d recommend going in the morning before it gets too hot. At the top you’ll find an observation post run by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology, and a couple of ziplines and ubiquitous souvenir shops and cafes.
