Dabaw Museum
This museum, next to the Waterfront Insular Hotel northeast of downtown, has a good collection of tribal weavings and artefacts from most of the Mindanao tribes.

Lambingan Falls
This beautiful waterfall and swimming hole is about 12km from Magdiwang (4km past the turn-off for the natural park). Tricycles can take you here (P130, 25 minutes).

T’boli Museum
You can buy locally made handicrafts here, really nothing more than a small native-style house selling the same weavings and brassware items found at roadside souvenir stalls

Guimaras Museum
The small Guimaras Museum, near the Capitol Building in San Miguel, exhibits a jumble of old relics and knick-knacks. The staff are a good source of information on the island.

Twin Lagoons
Two adjoining lagoons where salt and fresh water meet are de rigeur stops with good snorkelling. Boats dock in one and the other is accessed by swimming through a narrow crevice.

Manila Orchidarium
Offering a sanctuary from the mayhem of downtown Manila, the flower-filled Manila Orchidarium is a relaxing spot with orchids growing among water features and walk bridges.

Camayan Beach Resort
About 25km south of the Freeport Zone just near Ocean Adventure marine theme park, is this lovely sweep of sand with plenty of water activities, a dive centre and accommodation.

Rowildas Weaving Factory
In barangay Camanggaan, just a 10-minute tricycle ride southeast of Vigan, you can watch abel handweavers in action at Rowilda’s Weaving Factory, which is actually just a house.

Quirino Grandstand
Across Roxas Blvd at the western end of the park is the Quirino Grandstand, where Philippine presidents take their oath of office and deliver their first address to the nation.

Central Lagoon & Fountains
In the middle of Rizal Park is the Central Lagoon, a pool lined with busts of Filipino heroes and martyrs, and a dancing musical fountain that erupts in colourful explosions in the evening.

War Memorial Shrine
A short ride up from the village proper, a pyramid-shaped War Memorial Shrine marks the spot where Yamashita surrendered on 2 September 1945, to be hanged for war crimes shortly afterwards.

Butuan Regional Museum
About 4km or so west of the town centre, the Butuan Regional Museum has a small but excellent collection. It stands in a quiet garden of lily ponds; take a picnic and enjoy the surroundings.

Dipnaysupuan Tunnels
En route from Radar Tukon, towards Valugan boulder beach, are the Dipnaysupuan tunnels, built deep into the rock face by the Japanese using forced local labour; you can explore then with a torch.

Ang Panublion Museum
Originally built as a water-storage tank, this quirky museum on the plaza will give you a quick (30 minute) introduction to the city. A Heritage Walk booklet will lead you around the nearby area.

San Roque Falls
These pleasant, easy-to-reach falls make for refreshing dip. The path to the falls begins just west of the turnoff to Southern Leyte Dive Resort. From the highway its about a seven-minute walk.

University of the Philippines Manila
The lovely, leafy University of the Philippines Manila is a good place for a walk, bike or jog. The vast campus is reminiscent of a large American university, and fuels Quezon City’s active nightlife.

Museum of Natural History
Scheduled to open in 2015, the natural history museum will occupy the neoclassical heritage-listed building formerly used by the tourist office, and feature exhibits of taxidermy and Filipino artefacts.

Kasabangan Falls
A few kilometres west of Cabucgayan is multitiered Kasabangan Falls, which like Tinago Falls have been fitted out with a sealed access road and bleachers, and draw crowds of locals on weekends.

Vargas Museum
A wonderful art museum on the campus of leafy University of Philippines Diliman (UP), with a mix of changing modern and experimental art shows, and a permanent collection covering 19th century to the present day.

Mayon Planetarium & Space Park
In the (the never-opened and now derelict) Mayon Skyline Hotel (810m) on the northwestern side of Mt Mayon, the Mayon Planetarium & Space Park houses an eclectic array of NASA photos and volcano information.
