Namnong Memorial Hall
This hall contains a collection of paintings by five generations of the Huh family, including work by Huh Gun, a master of Namjonghwa, a Korean art style associated with the Southern School of China.

Naejang
Naejang-sa has the enviable location in the centre of Naejangsan National Park , encircled by its towering peaks. Though the temple dates to 636 AD, the buildings are mostly recent reconstructions.

Heundeul Bawi
A massive 16-tonne boulder balanced on the edge of a rocky ledge, which can be rocked to and fro by a small group of people. It’s a lookout on the way to Ulsan Bawi and a popular spot for photos.

Open Air Exhibition
On the approach to the National Folk Museum is an open-air exhibition of historical buildings and structures including a street of buildings styled as they would have been in the early 20th century.

Haenggung
This is a neighbourhood of street art featuring work by a mix of international muralists, as well as excellent art galleries Alternative Art Space Noon and Space Bom , which both exhibit local artists.

Gahoe Minhwa Workshop
Housing a large collection of amulets and folk paintings this combined house museum and cultural centre also offers classes teaching traditional painting which can be done as a print or on a T-shirt.

To get an idea of Songdos master plan drop by the sleek Compact Smart City a multilevel display centre with scale models and exhibitions covering the past, present and future of the surrounding area.

World Peace Gate
Standing at the main entrance of Olympic Park is the colossal World Peace Gate, with its striking winged arches designed by Kim Jung-up for the 1988 Olympics as the centrepiece of the large Peace Plaza.

Bamseom Beach
The largest of Sapsidos three beaches is Banseom Beach, a broad stretch of golden sand on the islands southern coast. To find it, follow the road to the left of the minbak village at Witmaeul marina.

Gyeongju National Park (Namsan District)
A national park just south of Gyeongju city centre with a bounty of relics from the Silla period. It forms part of the greater Gyeongju National Park, which is Koreas only historical national park.

Geunjeongjeon
The main palace building of Gyeongbokgung stands on a double-tiered stone platform with surrounding open-sided corridors. This is where kings were crowned, met foreign envoys and conducted affairs of state.

Jeju Glass Castle
This fascinating park features more than 350 glass sculptures created by global artists, including the world’s largest glass ball and glass diamond. Glass-blowing and glass-making classes are also run here.

Incheon Metropolitan City Museum
Next to the Incheon Landing Operation Memorial Hall is the city’s main museum, offering an excellent collection of celadon pottery and some interesting historical displays dating from the Three Kingdoms.

Gungisi Relics Exhibition Hall
Head down to the basement of City Hall to this glassed-in archaeological site displaying items dating from the Joseon dynasty unearthed during excavation of the complex, including arrowheads and firearms.

Byeongsan Seowon
A Confucian academy set in leafy surrounds with mountain and river views. If nature wasnt enough, under Joseon rule in the 19th century, students and scholars at Confucian schools were exempt from tax.

Spirited Garden
Bunjae (bonsai) trees may seem esoteric, but this bonsai park has excellent examples, some up to 500 years old. It’s the life’s work of Mr Sung Bum-young and has hosted dignitaries from all over the world.

Simcheonggak Pavilion
This attractive hilltop pavilion stands peacefully gazing out to sea; across the sea lies Jangsan Peninsula in North Korea. There are binoculars for a closer peek, plus a display of a tank and artillery gun.

Dalki Playground Area
Kids and kids-at-heart can go wild at this playground full of giant plastic characters from the cartoon Dalki. A fence made of crayons, a plastic ball pit and the interior of Dalkis house all beg to be explored.

Jayu Park
This beautiful hillside park, designed by a Russian civil engineer in 1888, makes a good spot for a stroll. It contains the monument for the centenary of Korea–USA relations and a statue of General MacArthur.
