Sitting atop Wolmi Park, the modern Wolmi Observatory is worth the short hike to enjoy 360° views of Incheon and beyond. The cafe here is a good spot for a break.

Sinseon
This temple in Songseon-ri near the top of Danseok-san (827m) was used as a base by General Kim Yu-shin in the 7th century. It has seen some renovation work since then.

Baekdam
A Buddhist temple built in 1957, though originally constructed in the 7th century in the Silla Kingdom. Its worth walking over its wooden bridge, which spans the valley.

This oddball open-air gallery is dedicated to chairs of all shapes and sizes, and somehow manages to make them interesting. Its located along Jeju Olle Trail 13.

Junghwajeon
Serving as Deoksugung’s main throne hall, Junghwajeon was used for ceremonial occasions such as coronations, and is adorned with dragons and golden window frames.

Jongno Tower
Designed by Rafael Viñoly, this striking 33-storey office building lords it over low-rise Insa-dong and has a fancy restaurant and cocktail bar Top Cloud on its top floor.

Dora Observatory
Peer through binoculars for a closer look at Kaesong city and Kaesong Industrial Complex in the DPRK, where cheap North Korean labourers are employed by South Korean conglomerates.

Deokjin Park
Join Korean couples who hire paddle boats in this charming park; particularly nice are the views of lotus lilies in July. Buses run here from the Jeondong Catholic Church bus stop .

Cutting-edge Korean art is usually on show in this basement space alongside permanent displays of the smallest book in the world (no more than a dot), and the largest book.

Jeodong
Jeodong-ri is a fishing village with picturesque sea walls, fishing nets, and seagulls. The boats with the lamps strung around like oversize holiday lights are for catching squid.

Seobok Exhibition Hall
This exhibition hall is dedicated to Seobok, who was an envoy of the first Chinese emperor, Qin Shi Huang, and chronicles his visits to Hallasan in search of a rare elixir.

Ulsan Bawi
A spectacular granite cliff that stands at 873m. Its a popular destination for hikers making the strenuous, two-hour, 4.3km hike from the Seorak-san National Park entrance.

Traditional Wine Museum
Housed in a beautiful old hanok, this museum has a gosori (traditional still), displays (in Korean) explaining the process of making traditional liquors and a small gift shop.

Pungnam
This stone-and-wood gateway is all that remains of Jeonju’s fortress wall. First built in 1398 but renovated many times since, its now the ornate centrepiece of a busy roundabout.

Baengnyeon
Fairies are said to slide down rainbows to bathe in the pools at this small temple. The stone Buddha statue inside the main hall is believed to date from the late Joseon dynasty.

At the bottom of Wolmi Park , the Korean Emigration History Museum offers interesting insights to the journey of Korean migrants, with a focus on settlers throughout the Americas.

Lightweight and durable, bamboo can be made into pretty much anything – as youll see at this museum, which is basically a showroom for bamboo products, both traditional and modern.
