Built by King Heonjong (r 1834–49) in an austere Confucian style using unpainted wood, royal descendants lived at this villa within the palace Changdeokgung until 1989.

Jikji Museum of Buddhist Arts
A collection of 2000 Buddhist treasures and relics from temples in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Highlights include a bronze bell cast by a monk, and a large unearthed bronze gong.

Gyejo
A hermitage en route to Ulsan Bawi. Gyejo-am is a human-made cave where you can sometimes hear Buddhist monks chanting just before reaching the boulder of Heundeul Bawi.

Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall
Located in the Jung-oe Park Culture Center, this 8100-sq-metre exhibition hall is the setting for the Gwangju Biennale (and in odd-numbered years, the Design Biennale).

Dongjangdae
Old military observation post within Suwon Hwaseong . The grassy area was used as a sword- and archery-training ground for two hundred years after the fortress opened.

In Seonunsan Provincial Park , this hermitage is a 30-minute hike from the temple Seonun-sa . Nearby is a giant Buddha rock carving dating to the Goryeo dynasty.
