Chief among the preserved villages of Beigan is Cinbi Village, comprising interconnected stone homes built into the side of Pishan (Bi Mountain), overlooking Turtle Island. The houses are built from slabs of granite and feature high, narrow windows to protect the inhabitants from wind and pirates. Roofs have bright-red or black tiles. Most homes in the small village have been transformed into guesthouses, and spending a night here should be one of the highlights of your trip to Matsu.
