The impressive Prang Sam Yot and its huge resident troop of monkeys are Lopburi's most famous attraction. The three linked towers were built by the Khmer in the 13th century as a Buddhist temple, though it was later converted to Shiva worship. There are two ruined headless Buddha images inside, while a third, more complete Buddha sits photogenically in front of the main prang . A heavy metal door keeps the monkeys out, but visitors can go inside.
