Locally billed as Khunming Mueang Thai ('The Thai Kunming'), due to its resemblance to the Stone Forest in Kunming, China, Suan Hin Pha Ngam is a beautiful trip, but Kunming it isn't, and if you just ride a tractor up to the easy-to-reach viewpoint for a quick look, you might be disappointed. The real highlight is the walk there or back with your guide through the labyrinthine paths and caves.
At times the hour-long route is a little rough and you need to duck through some small passageways, and if it has been raining you might get a little muddy, so be prepared. But the effort is worth it.
The site is about 15km southwest of Nong Hin. There's no public transport and hitching is highly impractical. If you want to stay the night, Chatikorn , just outside the park at the 17 Km marker on the Nong Hin–Suan Hin Pha Ngam road, has simple but comfortable bungalows and a great location, with its own iconic rock nearby.
