Signposted as the 'Goddess of Mercy Shrine Joss House', this fascinating Chinese temple is dedicated to the bodhisattva Guanyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. The temple's Chinese name (普岳山) on the entrance gate refers to the island in China that is the legendary home of the goddess. The main hall – the Great Treasure Hall – is a highly colourful confection, containing several bodhisattvas, including Puxian (seated on an elephant) and Wenshu (sitting on a lion).
Look out for the statue of a 1000-hand Guanyin, housed in the Guanyin Palace.
