Approximately 50km from Khun Yam is the 100m-high Nam Tok Mae Surin, part of Mae Surin National Park and reportedly Thailand’s highest waterfall.

The most colourful of Chiang Mais two Hindu temples is the brightly painted mandir (traditional shrine room) and the sikhara (tower) of Devi Mandir Chiang Mai.

Bo Nang Usa
A man-made well carved into solid rock. Its at least 5m deep and its age is unknown. The mind boggles at the labour required to make it, and for what purpose.

Sunset Point
A 500m (20-minute) walk west from the park visitors centre on Ko Miang to Sunset Point takes you through forest to a smooth granite platform facing west.

Iron Bridge
This picturesque steel bridge looks old but is actually a modern creation, built as a homage to the old Nawarat Bridge which was demolished in the 1970s.

Wat Khu Yang
Located just north of central Kamphaeng Phet, this Buddhist temple contains a handsome wooden hŏr đrai (manuscript library) dating back to the 19th century.

Th Mittraphan
Sign-makers branch off Wong Wian 22 Karakada; Thai and Roman letters are typically cut out by a hand-guided lathe placed prominently beside the pavement.

Wat Kaew Korawaram
While not a must-see sight, this Buddhist temple has some interesting 19th- and 20th-century buildings and a majestic dragon-flanked staircase leading up to it.

Wat Ou Sai Kham
This friendly neighbourhood wát is a monument to jade, with an impressive collection of jade Buddhas and jade and nephrite boulders in the main wí·hăhn .

Wat Chaichumphon
Next to the Jeath War Museum, this temple has many interesting statues and shrines, including one fashioned from a WWII-era boat dredged out of the river.

Nam Tok Wang Saotong
High-drop waterfall just north of the ring road near Ban Hua Thanon. There are signs warning visitors not to climb the falls as there have been fatalities.

Huay Kaew Fitness Park
The area around Chiang Mai University has loads of green space, including the wooded exercise course at Huay Kaew Fitness Park and nearby Ang Kaew reservoir .

Chumphon Gate
The citys only original gate left standing. It was a part of the city walls erected in 1656 by French technicians on the orders of Ayuthaya King Narai.

From February to April, a sandbar that boosters call Golden Sand Beach, rises near the Viewkong Hotel. Its better as a place to watch fishermen than to swim.
