One of Bermuda’s most spectacular sights can be found deep underground at the Crystal and Fantasy Caves. These subterranean splendors are vast chambers with crystal-clear underground lakes. In the Crystal Cave, a walking trail is suspended on floating pontoons across the water’s surface, so you can venture into the middle of the lake and look into the water to see the rock formations some 50 feet below. A tour through the Fantasy Cave brings you up close to the above-water formations, jagged stalactites hanging from the ceiling, and walls covered in glittering calcite mineral deposits. Both caves are illuminated, making it easy to admire the unusual formations, and tours are led by guides who explain their geology and history.
