Just off the Malecón at the ocean end of Calle G, this cultural institution was set up by Moncada survivor Haydee Santamaría in 1959 and awards one of Latin America's oldest and most prestigious literary prizes. Inside there's an art gallery, a bookstore and an atmosphere of erudite intellectualism.
