At the east end of town is an old limestone church marking the entrance to a somewhat rundown horticultural garden established in 1779. Many exotics introduced to Jamaica were first planted here, including the famous breadfruit brought from the South Pacific by Captain Bligh in 1793. Every September, Bath's Breadfruit Festival commemorates what’s now a firm Jamaican staple.
