In the late 18th century, a who’s who of politicians, crowned heads and the merely moneyed came to ‘take the cure’ in the 107°F hot mineral springs of this palatial hotel. The main building now houses government offices, but the Spring House below the hotel had to close because of hurricane damage. An outdoor pool was recently constructed nearby in case you wish to soothe aching bones. Water filters in through layers of crushed stones through the bottom of the pool and flows out via a pipe into the stream.
