It was a grisly moment in Kittitian history: in 1626 joint British and French forces massacred more than 2000 Caribs in a site about 4 miles west of Basseterre, along Old Rd. Legend has it that so much blood was spilled that it ran for three days straight – hence the name Bloody Point.
A short drive further northwest, the road swings down to Old Road Town , the landing site of the first British settlers in 1623.
