Outside the Heinrich Harrer Museum you can sip on a bowl of butter tea and listen to the rush of water through wooden prayer wheels, before going inside the beautiful stone and wood building to see the huge collection of objects and photographs Harrer brought back from his world travels. Opposite the museum is the Lingkor, a metal walkway built up the cliff face as an aid to prayer and meditation. It closed in 2013 due to rockfalls and may not be accessible for another couple of years. The colourful prayer wheels made from oil drums are testament to Hüttenberg’s history of being a site for heavy industry (this is an iron-ore mining area).
