This is the scientific counterpart to the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Minerals, meteorites and animal remains are displayed in jars, while zoology and anthropology are covered in detail. There’s also a children’s corner. The 25,000-year-old Venus of Willendorf statuette is on display here (her 100th anniversary of discovery was celebrated in 2008), and also in room 11 is her older sister, the 32,000 BC statuette Venus of Galgenberg (the oldest figurative sculpture in the world).
