The central cathedral has soaring Gothic vaults, an elaborate neo-Gothic pulpit, colourfully patterned ceiling and fine stained-glass windows. Off the closed-in cloister, its slickly presented three-level Trésor guards many artworks, vestments and chalices rescued from St-Lambert’s Cathedral in 1793, most notably the jewel-studded gold-and-silver reliquary of St Lambert. In the form of a life-sized bust, the reliquary supposedly contains Lambert’s skull (though six other Lambert skulls also apparently exist!) and is encrusted with intricate tales from the saint’s life.
