On the southernmost edge of Ovifat, an idyllic little streamside lane descends 500m from a small car park to the very picturesque Château de Reinhardstein. Originally built in 1354 and restored to archetypal fortress appearance in 1969, the castle can only be visited by guided tour. But even when closed, it’s well worth the short stroll to admire the sturdy exterior framed by mature trees.
You could alternatively walk up to Reinhardstein 800m from the north edge of the dam that forms a forest-rimmed reservoir lake near Robertville.
