This rococo-style historic mansion was reputedly the birthplace of Charles Quint’s illegitimate daughter, Margaret (Margaretha) of Palma, who later became governor of the Spanish Netherlands (1559–67). Today it hosts changing exhibits but is most interesting for its working tapestry design and repair workshops. Entrance is included in the MOU ticket price.
To get there from Grote Markt, walk southeast past the quaint 1499 Begijnhof (Achterburg) and cross the river via the lift bridge.
