The most prominent building in Trebinje's walled Old Town is a four-storey 19th-century former Austro-Hungarian barracks, which now houses the Hercegovina Museum. The museum's layout seems a little haphazard, with sarcophagus fragments and Roman busts dotted about two piano-rooms amid Dučić memorial items. But there are some impressive 5th-century-BC bronze helmets in the archaeological section, the ethnography rooms are attractively presented and as well as spurious furniture, the top floor offers a fairly comprehensive overview of Hercegovina's history.
