Captains Tower

TIME : 2016/2/18 16:55:27

Before Bihać was more than a lonely fortress, this square-plan shingle-roofed castle tower is said to have offered refuge to the Hungarian King Bela IV who was so grateful that he gave Bihać a free-city charter in 1260. Since then it has been used as a prison and museum but now the black metal door is usually locked shut.

To gain access you'll need to visit the small AVNOJ museum, the yellow-beige building set back from 5-Korpusa opposite the Hotel Park. That's supposedly open till 3pm but was closed entrrely on our last visit.
