First in precedence is the Nativity Church, the oldest surviving one in Arbanasi. It features a kaleidoscopic frescoed interior, with paintings (created between 1632 and 1649) covering its five chambers. The church's hand-carved central iconostasis is also magnificent. Over 3500 figures are depicted in some 2000 scenes throughout the church, which also boasts lavish wood iconostases created by Tryavna-School carvers.
