Tvrdalj is Petar Hektorović’s 16th-century fortified castle. The leafy fish pond reflects the poet’s love for fish and fishers. His poem Fishing and Fishermen’s Chat (1555) paints an enticing portrait of his favourite pastime. The castle also contains quotes from the poet’s work inscribed on the walls in Latin and Croatian.
