Flaunting an award-winning extension by Copenhagen-based architects Lundgaard & Tranberg, Sorø Kunstmuseum spans 300 years of Danish art, with works running the gamut from medieval woodcarvings to modern sculpture and photography. While the collection is best known for its 19th-century 'Golden Age' paintings, it also includes the largest collection of Russian icons in Denmark, spanning 1500 to 1900. In recent years, the museum has strengthened its contemporary collection, and its four annual temporary exhibitions showcase both Danish and international artists.
