The small village of Bregninge, on Rte 9, is home to one of Denmark’s most-visited churches, the medieval Bregninge Kirke . Its attraction lies in the panoramic views from the tower .
Tåsinge Museum , across the road from the church, is a local-history museum telling the story of Lieutenant Sixten Sparre and artist Elvira Madigan, Denmark’s real-life Romeo and Juliet. Facing separation, the tragic lovers committed suicide in 1889. They are buried together on Tåsinge in the churchyard at Landet, 3km south of Bregninge, where brides still throw bouquets on their grave.
