Across the road from the Bregninge Church, this local-history museum tells the story of Lieutenant Sixten Sparre and artist Elvira Madigan, Denmark’s real-life Romeo and Juliet. Facing separation, the tragic lovers committed suicide in 1889. They are buried together on Tåsinge in the churchyard at Landet, 3km south of Bregninge, where brides still throw bouquets on their grave.
