Muku & Aja Shops
Muku & Aja Shops occupies an 1871 former blacksmiths workshop. It has wooden shingle roof, thick stone walls, arched windows and a small cannon aimed at the Torvet (the old town square).

City Hall
The City Hall is not architecturally distinguished, but its worth looking inside to see the impressive 1998 tapestry of Inuit life. Curiously, it includes a vignette about missionary Hans Egede.

Hans Egede House
The sturdy 1728 Hans Egede House is the oldest in Greenland and has a pretty vegetable garden. Originally home to Nuuks missionary founder, its now the venue for official government receptions.

Narsarsuaq Museum
Narsarsuaq Museum , accessed through the Blue Ice Café, is extensive and worth a visit. Displays take you through a variety of historical exhibits on the Norse, sheep farming and the US presence in South Greenland.

Eskimo Pels
Eskimo Pels is a small factory where local women turn sealskins into designer bags and clothes. Theres a decent gift shop attached. Both the wool workshop and the excellent ceramics workshop are presently closed but might re-open.

House B22
The attractive timber House B22 was once home to a KGH trader who, legend relates, was something of a bon-vivant playboy. Indeed on occasions he was found to be as drunk as a pope, hence the ironic name for the road on which he lived.

Museum
A good starting point for any tour of the area is Qaanaaqs museum , housed in the former home of famed polar explorer Knud Rasmussen. Displays include items relating to his work, archaeological finds from around the district, and tools and clothing used by the Inuit.

Paavia Church
Paavia Church , built 1969, is worth a visit. The nave symbolises an umiaq , and the altarpiece is a glass mosaic decorated with a huge cross and golden sun surrounded by a polar bear, whales, fish, a kayak, an umiaq , and the pagan spirits scurrying from the light of Christianity.

Tasiilaq Museum
The Tasiilaq Museum is housed in the old church (built in 1908). It has a wonderful collection of exhibits on the history and culture of East Greenland, including the largest mask collection in the country, some stunning old photos, beadwork, traditional costumes and carvings.
