Broadway Market
Broadway Market is a street in the borough of Hackney in east London that runs from London Fields to Regent’s Cannel. It dates back to the mid-19th century, when it was the site of a busy fruit and vegetable market. The neighborhood fell into disrepair by the end of the 20th century and shops closed and residents moved out. Things changed in 2004, when a Saturday food market was launched, eventually bringing new restaurants and boutiques into the area. Broadway Market today is considered the most successful community market in London. It features shops and stalls selling organic meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, smoked salmon and oysters, bread, cakes, cheese and vintage clothing. A visit to the market provides a great local experience as the majority of people shopping there either live nearby or walk or bike to the market for their weekly shopping.
