Tenterden
First making a name for itself as a wool trading and shipbuilding center in the 13th century, the historic village of Tenterden is today best known as the starting point of the legendary Kent & East Sussex Railway, one of England’s best preserved steam heritage railways.
Don’t board your train right away though – take time to browse Tenterden’s many shops; admire the wood-beamed cottages and Victorian townhouses along the High Street; or take a detour to the nearby Chapel Down Winery, England’s leading wine producer, where you can tour the vineyards and sample the award-winning wines.
Practical Info
Tenterden is located in South East England, approximately 95 km from London.
