The Lowry

The Lowry

This space-age building made of geometric shapes and resembling a ship sits at Pier 8 in Salford Quays. Opened in 2000 with the plan to revitalize the Quays, The Lowry does just that by attracting world-class shows, artists and more.

The star attractions of the metal and glass Lowry are its two main theaters (including one that boasts largest stage in the UK, second only to London’s West End) and expansive gallery space. Named after Manchester painter L.S. Lowry, his work is on permanent display here. For those seeking to learn, there are even art, dance and other classes to experience.

Perfect for an evening out, The Lowry also offers restaurants and cafes, as well as shopping. Not sure what else to do while in Manchester? There’s also a Tourist Information Centre to help answer questions about visiting the city.
