Jewel Village , on the Lappeenranta–Vaalimaa road (Rd 387), has a gem museum which has a collection of spectrolite and precious minerals and fossils, many in their raw, uncut state. Many of the gemstones are backlit to stunning effect, while others provide their own fluorescence. The Gem Fair , in early July, draws plenty of international rockheads.
