It is a truth universally acknowledged that kids love creepy-crawlies – and they can indulge their insectivorous interests at the excellent Micropolis, the ‘Insect City’, 19km northwest of Millau. This high-tech centre brings the world of insects impressively to life: you can peer inside ant colonies, see the inner workings of beehives and explore the wonderful butterfly pavilion. Afterwards there’s an insect-themed adventure park where they can burn off steam while you kick back in the cafe – thankfully, there was no sign of any insect tastings on offer.
