It's a bit away from the centre, but fans of historic trains have plenty to admire at this vast museum. It displays around 180 steam locomotives (many puffing away), and coaches and wagons dating back as far as 1853. From Bochum Hauptbahnhof take tram 318 (or from Essen, the S3) to Bochum-Dahlhausen, then walk for 1200m or take the historic shuttle (Sundays only).
