The 55m-high, 13th-century Altpörtel, the city’s western gate, is the only remaining part of the town wall. The clock (1761) has separate dials for minutes and hours. On the second floor, a permanent exhibition covers the history of Speyer. Breathtaking views unfold from the top of the Altpörtel on a clear day.
