The contrast between the cacophonous Karl-Marx-Strasse and quiet Rixdorf, a tiny historic village centred on Richardplatz, seems almost surreal given that they’re only steps apart. Weavers from Bohemia first settled here in the early 18th century and some of the original buildings still survive, including a blacksmith , a farmhouse and the 15th-century Bethlehemskirche . From U-Bahn station Karl-Marx-Strasse, go south on Karl-Marx-Strasse for about 300m, then turn left on Karl-Marx-Platz and continue for another 300m to Richardplatz.
