This architectural stunner is centred on a galleried atrium accented with wooden balustrades, floating staircases and palatial chandeliers and lidded by an ornately patterned glass ceiling. It is currently undergoing renovation and is due to reopen as a department store in 2016, but until it does you can still peer in through the windows.
Another art nouveau delicacy is the nearby Strassburg Passage, a light-flooded shopping arcade connecting Berliner Strasse and Jacobstrasse.
