Cologne used the construction of the U-Bahn line to also build this grand new museum, which is located under the Rathausplatz and fully ecompasses two major parts of the city history. At the deepest level is the Praetorium, which has relics of a Roman governor’s palace. One level up you'll find relics from the Jewish community that was here in the Middle Ages, including a mikveh (community bath). Although work is ongoing, there is usually some access to the site.
