Braunschweig's Ducal Palace was badly damaged in WWII and demolished in 1960. The present building is an impressive reconstruction completed in 2007, using original elements. Its palace museum uses multilingual, interactive technology to explain the region’s rulers and history, and features rooms with original furnishings from the 19th century.
