The pedestrianised avenue linking the Alte Oper and the western end of the Zeil – officially called Kalbächer Gasse and Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse – is known affectionately as 'Fressgass' because of its generous selection of eateries. Many places offer outdoor seating in the warm season.
