Photography Museum (Museum für Fotografie)

The Photography Museum, or Museum für Fotografie, opened in Berlin in 2004 and has become a popular spot for camera enthusiasts. The images on display are part of various collections, including an exhibit from the Helmut Newton Foundation. The museum’s main exhibit is “Helmut Newton’s Private Property,” and there are individual collections on his work and his wife Alice Springs. Newton’s contemporaries include “Helmut Newton: Sex and Landscapes,” “Newton, Nachtwey, Lachapelle: Men, War & Peace,” “Pigozzi and the Paparazzi” and “Helmut Newton Polaroids.” 
The  Kunstbibliothek’s Collection of Photography has a series of rotating exhibits on display that explore the medium. These exhibits test the limits of photography, as well as its relation to other media such as sculpture and film. The Photography Museum also has guides and lectures on current research topics. 

Practical Info

The Photography Museum is located at Jebensstraße 2 in Berlin. To get there, take the U1, U2, U9, S5, S7 or S75 to the Zoologischer Garten station. Opening hours are from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, while the site is open until 8 pm on Thursday and from 11 am to 6 pm on weekends. Admission costs 10 euros.
