Akrotiri Peninsula’s major cultural site, the impressive 17th-century Moni Agias Triadas, is a visitor-friendly monastery. It was founded by Venetian monks, Jeremiah and Laurentio Giancarolo, who were converts to the Orthodox faith. There was a religious school here in the 19th century and it is still an active monastery with a rich library. It’s worth visiting for its altarpiece, Venetian-influenced domed facade, small museum, and its store selling the monastery’s fine wine, oil and raki .
