In the centre of Psara village is a small park containing the monument where Greeks pay their respects to this national hero. Kostantimos Kanaris is actually buried in Athens while his heart is kept in the Naval Museum in Piraeus.
If in Psara on the last Sunday in June, attend the religious commemoration of the 1824 Ottoman massacre. It occurs on the Black Rock, and is followed by folk dancing and other cultural activities in town.
