This church for the patron saint of the island, in Zakynthos Town’s south, holds amazing giltwork and frescoes. Its ecclesiastical museum contains intriguing icons from the Monastery of Strofades (home to Dionysios for several years), plus scrolls from the 13th and 14th centuries. Every August 24th the curiously preserved 400-year-old body of St Dionysios is paraded in the streets.
