Trophy & Model Railway Museum

TIME : 2016/2/18 20:12:22

This former military attic actually houses two separate museums. If you only have time for one, don't miss the grin-inducing Model Railway Museum on the top floor, which exhibits one of the world's largest mountain railway layouts. Trains whiz round a 40m-long railway network straight out of a picture book: one section contains the historic Vienna to Trieste train line and an awe-inducing section of Austrian mountains complete with mountain tunnels; another goes through Nuremburg and a snow-covered rendition of the Black Forest; and further along you watch train cars make stops at Lake Balaton towns like Keszthely and Badacsony, including amazingly detailed versions of their train stations. It's guaranteed to wow kids and adults alike.

On the two lower floors is the Trophy Museum – although we're not sure we enjoy looking at dead animals, it's impossible not to admit that this collection of hunting trophies from the 1920s and 30s contains spectacular stuffed leopards, cheetahs, lions, a polar bear and even a Siberian tiger, among other animals.
