You can learn a whole lot more about the intelligent Lipizzaner horses by visiting the whiffy Horse Museum about 1km northeast of town. Exhibits focus on bloodlines, but the real sight is the breeding mares who live in this five-star stable built in 1860. The stallions at the Lipizzaner Stud Farm to the southwest can also be visited; there's a Coach Museum attached. Arrange ahead for horse rides up into the protected areas of the Bükk Plateau (3000Ft per hour) or for coach rides (from 7000Ft per hour). Horse parades, coach races and special events, such as the Lipizzaner Horse Festival in mid-July, take place in the open and closed racecourses in the centre.
