There are a couple of churches in the town centre worth a quick look. The Romanian Orthodox St Nicholas Cathedral , built in the Zopf style in 1824 but only consecrated 170 years later, has a beautiful iconostasis containing almost three dozen painted images. The baroque Inner City Church from 1777 has interesting contemporary ceiling frescoes highlighting events in Hungarian and world history – including an astronaut in space!
