West of Kilree, and signposted 2km off the R698 about 2km south of Callan, is a cemetery where the local victims of the Great Famine are buried. Park at the sign and then follow a farmers lane for 300m. It isn't much to look at, but the unmarked mass grave is a poignant reminder of the anonymity of starvation.
